About

A DIFFERENT KIND OF RADIO CLUB.

Hill Country DX Association is a community of amateur radio operators based in the Texas Hill Country. We exist because we wanted something most ham radio clubs don't offer: a group focused on doing things, not running an organization.

We're not a nonprofit. We don't do emergency communications drills. We don't have a board of directors, bylaws, or treasurer's reports. What we have is a group of operators who like building, experimenting, contesting, and talking about radio — and want to do it alongside others who feel the same way.

If you've ever felt like ham radio clubs spend more time on procedure than on radio, this is the alternative.

Mission

BUILD COMMUNITY. SHARE KNOWLEDGE. GET ON THE AIR.

Active Participation

Everyone contributes. No spectators. Every member shares what they're working on, learning, or excited about.

Zero Bureaucracy

No dues. No board meetings. No Robert's Rules. We spend our time on radio, not running an organization.

Encouragement

We're here to build each other up. Share your wins, your failures, your questions. This community has your back.

Meetings

MONTHLY. FOCUSED. EVERYONE TALKS.

We meet once a month, either in-person in the Hill Country or virtually. The format is simple: everyone gets 5 to 10 minutes to present something.

Worked a new country? Tell us about the contact. Built an antenna? Show us how it performs. Entered a contest? Break down your strategy. Bought a new rig? Give us the review. It doesn't have to be polished — it just has to be real.

A Note on Participation

Participation isn't optional. We believe everyone has something worth sharing, and the best communities are the ones where everyone contributes. If you attend multiple meetings without presenting, we'll kindly ask you to step up — or step aside. This isn't about gatekeeping. It's about keeping the group active, engaged, and valuable for everyone who shows up.

Welcome

IF YOU'RE INTO RADIO, YOU'RE ONE OF US.

Licensed operators of any class. People studying for their first license. Anyone genuinely interested in amateur radio. Your experience level doesn't matter — your willingness to participate does.

Whether you're chasing DX on 20 meters, building SDR projects, experimenting with digital modes, or just got your Technician license last week — there's a place for you here.
